About This Package

The Delhi to Amritsar road trip is a journey into the soul of Punjab — a land of vibrant culture, Sikh heritage, mouth-watering cuisine and one of the world's most beautiful temples. The Har Mandir Sahib (Golden Temple), shimmering in gold against the sacred Amrit Sarovar, is a sight that leaves every visitor deeply moved.

Our experienced drivers know the best routes via NH44 (the fastest) and can recommend the best spots for authentic Punjabi dhabas along the way. The evening Wagah Border Retreat Ceremony is a highlight that no visitor should miss — timing your arrival to catch it is something our drivers expertly plan for.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

01
Day 1
Delhi — Amritsar (Golden Temple & Wagah Border)
Depart Delhi early morning (5–6 AM) via NH44. The 450 km drive takes approximately 6–7 hours. Stop at a Punjabi dhaba for lunch en route. Arrive Amritsar by afternoon, check in. Head to the Golden Temple for evening darshan — the golden glow at dusk is magical. Then drive to Wagah Border for the Beating Retreat Ceremony (timing critical, your driver plans accordingly).

Frequently Asked Questions

What time should we leave Delhi to catch the Wagah Border ceremony?
The Wagah Border ceremony happens daily around 5:15 PM in summer (Apr–Sep) and 4:15 PM in winter (Oct–Mar). We recommend departing Delhi by 5–6 AM to reach comfortably, visit the Golden Temple, and then proceed to Wagah. Your driver will plan the timing precisely.
Is the Golden Temple visit free? Any dress code?
Yes, the Golden Temple is completely free to visit. You must cover your head (scarves available at the entrance), remove shoes, and wash your feet before entering. Simple, respectful clothing is recommended. The langar (community kitchen) also offers free meals to all visitors.
Is the price per person or per car?
All our prices are per car, not per person. So whether you're 2 or 6 people in the car, the price remains the same — making it very economical for groups and families travelling together.
Can we do Delhi–Amritsar as a day trip?
It's possible but not recommended. The drive is 6–7 hours each way, which leaves very little time for sightseeing. We strongly suggest 2 days minimum — this allows you to experience the Golden Temple in the morning and evening light, attend the Wagah ceremony, and explore Jallianwala Bagh at a relaxed pace.
Can we add Chandigarh to this trip?
Absolutely. Chandigarh is right on the NH44 between Delhi and Amritsar. We can add a Chandigarh stopover (Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake, Sector 17 Market) either on the way there or on the return journey, making this a 3-day Punjab circuit.
